Tinnitus Evaluation & Treatment in Corpus Christi, TX
Tinnitus is also known as ringing in the ear. Many people suffer from tinnitus and have various forms of ringing. Tinnitus may present as any type of noise in the ear, varying from high pitch ringing, to ocean sounds, to crickets, to pulsations. Almost always tinnitus is the result of high-frequency nerve damage. This can occur acutely after loud noise exposure such as going to concerts or hunting, or after permanent nerve damage from age, noise exposure at work, surgery, trauma, and sometimes medications. Occasionally infection, wax, or fluid in the ear can cause tinnitus. An evaluation for tinnitus includes a thorough physical exam and often a hearing test by our Audiologist in the office.
